I have been competing in dog sledding for over 16 years, with a main focus on leash running – cross-country running with a dog – a discipline that places high demands on both dog and handler. When I started I was very young, but now that I am approaching 30 I notice how important it is to be smarter with both training and recovery in order to be able to develop further and perform without injuries.
I had looked into light therapy before, but found it difficult to understand how it actually worked. So it seemed a bit too good to be true. My first encounter with QWave was actually through Darren Stainsby. Right from the start I realised that he has an incredible amount of knowledge, and the products reflect this – they are easy to use, based on research and designed to actually work.
After a season with many injuries and accidents – especially with the dogs – I was very motivated to find solutions that could help us.
The Qwave LED Torch is the product I use most on my dogs. It's perfect for small wounds on their paws or cuts after dogs have run loose in the woods. The blue light helps reduce bacterial growth, while the red light stimulates wound healing. The result is that injuries heal faster, and dogs can return to activity sooner.
For my part, I mostly use the Qwave LED Wrap after hard training sessions to support recovery. Since I work alongside training and competition, it is not always easy to find the perfect balance between stress and recovery. That is why solutions like the QWave are essential to help me stay injury-free and ready for the next session.
At the same time, I can also use the wrap on my dogs with the same effect. After knowing how well it works on my own body, it feels extra good to be able to give the same treatment to my dogs – and know that it can help them feel even better.
While training and recovery are the main reasons I use QWave, one of the things I love most is how versatile the products are. I can use them for almost anything. From testing blue light on acne to using red light for inflammation or pain in different areas – it’s simply a tool that can be used for so many things.
